From Catherine Herbst:
“Carte de mester” (1937) of my grandmother, Maria Nagelberg, wife of Emil Herbst. Her husband was a mathematics teacher in Czernowitz. Their children, my father, Gedeon (1909) and his brother Carol (1922) were born in Czenowitz.
I wonder what the proper English translation of ‘Carte de mester’ would be? What other information is on this card?

It’s a “Craftsman Card”, issued on 16.11.1937, evidencing Maria Herbst, born on 06.02.198[9]6 in Czernowitz as a taylor, basing on a certificate dated 12.03.1937 [I don't decipher the street name; who does?].
BTW: Are you aware, Catherine, that Emil Herbst was transferred from Czernowitz to Kizman/Kitzman/Kotzman/Cosmeni in August 1932, as reported by the Czernowitz daily newspaper “Der Tag” [http://czernowitzdaily.blogspot.de] on 07.08.1932?

What is Kizman?A town,?A camp?….I have tried to look czernowitzdaily.blogspot.debut i dont know how see the 7/08/32.For this reason i dont know what was happened to my grand father at this date…..This part of the life of my grand parents is very mysterious.Their 2 soons were living in France,after they (the sons) were to Auschwitz.My greats parents stayed the whole war in Romania and came in France after the war Sorry for my little baby english.Its very frustated to write like this
