Haifa.
A noisy group of Czernowitzers / Bukovinaers was happy to celebrate
together with Hedwig.

Morgen fahre ich zu meinen drei Enkelkindern nach Wien, wollte Euch/Ihnen das oben gesagte kurz mitteilen, sehr schöne Feiertage und für das Jahr 2012 viel, viel Gesundheit, Glück und Lebensfreude wünschen.”
Irene Fishler: “Nuuu? Was sagt ihr dazu? Ich bin heute fast in Ohnmacht gefalllen, als mir Hedy den Brief vom Botschafter vorgelesen hat. Zum Glueck sagte sie mir : “Irene , setz dich hin , ich muss dir etwas sagen”. Auch sie wurde ueberrascht. Wir sind stolz auf sie. Liebe Gruesse zu allen Feiertagen!
Edgar Hauster: “WOW!!! Das ist ja großartig, liebe Hedwig! Gratuliere, herzlichen Glückwunsch, ich bin beeindruckt! […] Gut, dass unser Bundespräsident rechtzeitig noch etwas Vernünftiges gemacht hat! Ansonsten hat er hier in Deutschland einige Probleme zu bewältigen und wer weiß, ob er sie aussitzen kann?! Irma and her son Andre undertake an intimate journey across Europe, searching memories of events occurred long ago, as well as History, Irma remaining, to this day, the last witness.

Christian Hermann sent along the following photo of Nobel Prize winner Herta Muller at the Cz. Jewish Cemetery. He writes:”was surprised to find the Jewish cemetery of Czernowitz on the first page of Berlin’s daily paper Der Tagesspiegel. Nobel Prize winner Herta Müller did visit Czernowitz and several German newspapers now use the photo by Isolde Ohlbaum. The subtitle says: Landscapes of homelesness. The image shows Herta Müller in May 2009 at the old Jewish cemetry in the Ukrainian city of Czernowitz once belonging to Austria-Hungary. The now 56 years old German was born in Romania and lives in Germany since 1987.”I found out that her mother was in a Soviet work camp during the war. Is there a possible Jewish connection through her mother?
