This is very interesting.

Oltye Duamne would be the Liceul "Oltea Doamna" (i.e. Lady Oltea); this was
the school that my mother Erica attended. Up to about 1937 it was located
in the Landhausgasse, then it moved (presumably to larger premises?) to the
Siebenburgerstrasse (Str Stefan cel Mare), opposite the beginning of the
Volksgarten. My mother says that it was a prestigious Romanian school, and
getting into it was difficult.

When I was in Cz for the Reunion last year, I attempted to locate the two
buildings where the "Oltea Doamna" was located. I think I was successful,
but I am not 100% certain that I was correct. If anyone can confirm the
exact locations I would be very glad if they would get in touch with me. I
took photos, and do intend (although rather belatedly!) to send them to
Jerome so he can put them up on the site.

Judging from the photos, I think my mother would be a few years older than
Gadi's, so she probably would not recognise the girls in the pictures.

My mother has a portrait picture of herself in school uniform, and this does
look very much like what the girls are wearing in the pictures - a wide
white collar of distinctive shape, with a spotty cravat beneath. Gadi, does
your mother have a similar picture? I think it was an "official" school
portrait. The size is about 2.5" wide by 3.3" high, and it has a crinkly
edge. The white collar and cravat are very prominent, and my mother is also
wearing a beret on which (with a magnifying glass) the letters "LOD" can
just be made out.
