Hello,

Does anyone know if Wiznitz, Bukovina BMD or other
useful records are available? [I just verified that my
great-grandfather (last name - Burmil) was born in
Bircoivina, Wiznitz (county) in 1877.] I am
particularly intrigued by the reference to the
existence of a Wiznitz Pinkas (see quote below)? Is
there any way to check for specific Wiznitz records?

Thank you,
David Hoffman

"Wiznitz was a unique Jewish Community in the Bukowina
for having a Pinkas (register of births, marriages,
deaths) of the Chevra Kadisha (burial society) dating
from 1768, before the Austrian rule."
