Dear Franciska,

I believe we are related - it is very nice to 'meet' you. The connection I
have found, if I am correct, is through the Kanner line you discussed in your
prior email that I have included, below my own report of related family history:

My paternal grandmother, Esther Kanner Fichman, was born in Nova Sulitza (my
late mother Pearl Spiegel Fichman's spelling), according to conversations in
2000 and 2001 with my late mother and my late father, Yehudi David Fichman
(born 1919 in Lipcani). With them I sketched a modest tree diagram of the linneage
of my late father's family, which I can scan and sent separately.

This paternal grandmother, Esther Kanner Fichman, who died during WWII, had a
brother, Yakov Kanner who married Leah - they lived in Trinidad. I do not
think I have any further information about Yakov and Leah. Michael Kanner (from
Lipcani, according to my parents) was Esther's and Yakov's father - my father
Yehudi's maternal grandfather.

Your forebears Jacob and Esther Kanner from Novoselitza, fathered by Mechel
Kanner, sound like my forebears Yakov and Esther Kanner from Nova Sulitza,
fathered by Michael Kanner.

Several members of the Fichman / Kanner family in Lipcani and Czernowitz were
involved in the grain business, like your Kalman Fleminger.

The "suburb from Czernowitz, called Sarago or something like that" might be
Sadagura, but here I am speculating based on very modest knowledge of the area.

I do not know of any Flemingers in my limited knowledge of my family's
history. I have copied my cousin Rivka in Israel - she may know more about the
Kanner connection that we seem to have in common. Esther Kanner Fichman was her
paternal grandmother as well - she is the daughter of my father's brother Michael
. . . perhaps named after our common forebear.

I have visited the country of your birth, The Netherlands, on two occasions.
My late parents visited there as well. We all loved our visits.

All the best,

Eytan
