Dear Friends:

Since several years ago, I've been reporting that the Family History
Library of Utah has been microfilming vital records of all faiths
held by the Chernivtsi State Archives. Now I can finally report that
some of these records are can be found in the online catalog, which
means they can be ordered and viewed at Family History Libraries
around the world. (Sorry, but I believe there are none in Israel.)

Here's what I've found so far:

birth, death and marriage records for Czernowitz "district",
1901-1929, in Romanian and German:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails&titleno=1378649&disp=Metrical+books%20%20&columns=*,0,0
(2 microfilm reels)
  Film 2395740 Item 3 births 1901-1923
Film 2395784 Item 2 births 1923-1929

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=1378569&disp=Metrical+books++

The link above lists 38 reels of microfilm for records for Czernowitz
(not Cz "district") from 1856-1929. These reels include several
with indices to birth and marriage records, but not for death record
indices. There are many reels with actual vital records.

Background on Family History Libraries and how to borrow these
microfilms can be found at:

Happy Hunting - and Please let Reunion Attendees know!
