Dear organizers of this year's Czernowitz meeting, (and also to the
Reunion committee)
First of all, congratulations, rumors tell us that the meetings,
lectures, etc. went well, and that it was excellently organized. Not
easy, as anyone who has tried to co-ordinate such a big meeting with
participants from all over the world can tell. At least, the Israelis
who could not attend last year's Reunion were able to
join and thus enjoy being part of something which we all have in
common.Pity we could not be with you.
It is early, but what comes to mind is that, since there are more and
more old and young Czernowitzers from everywhere joining the list, that
a new meeting could be planned, as previously discussed, for the 2008
anniversary of the Jiddish conference which took part in Czernowitz one
hundred years ago. Of course, the planners of this last meeting need a
big, well-deserved break, and new persons should really take over. Has
this subject been approached at the meeting, informally?
First of course, we have to have a clear idea and project of what should
be done. I believe that the Czernowitz authorities will not be too
cooperative, unless we present an attractive (to them) plan, which is
easier said than done due to the specificity of the theme.
Let's hear suggestions, I am sure there will be lots of, and lots of
persons interested to come.
Regards,
Gabriele
