Mr Hecker, I would recommend the Bucharest - Suceava Tarom flight, and then
the road trip Suceava- Czernowitz, as I did 5 years ago. Just expect a
lengthy delay at the Rumania-Ukraine border where the passport checks can
take a long time.
I agree with the others that the Rumanian roads are better than the
Ukrainian ones, and this is probably the most direct way.
Also a day or so in Bucharest en route can prove an interesting stopover. We
visited the main Synagogue, and did some other sighteeing.
