Josef is right.

This structure was still there in the 60s. I thought it was built specially
for sun tanning...

Whatever was build before the war was and still is indestructible. I
remember how Russians tried to blow up public toilets on the Central Square
(Ringplatz? See, I'm learning!). They almost demolished the entire square.
