When I was on Lviv we spoke with the head of the archives who is Jewish.
She told us to fill out paperwork to request documents pertaining to my
grandfathers property which is apparently quite valuable. 6 months later I
received a package from the Ukrainian Embassy with a letter stating my
family's property was confiscated by the Soviets along with 36 pages
of notorized copies of the original documents of ownership going back to
1923 when my grandfather renovated the property and submitted the paperwork
for approval of the renovations. The letter clearly states the provenance
as do the paperwork. All the documents except the letter were in Polish.

Now what? I was told by Vadim Altscan from the National Holocaust Museum in
DC that until the Ukraine is part of the European Union there will be no
talk of restitution.

Has this changed?

There is a plethora of proof in these archives that is there for the
taking. All we need to do is ask. Get the copies now I suggest and pounce
when the time is right.
