It is true that some nations are more responsible for the Holocaust,
than others. In order to develop a world without hatred and animosity,
it would be proper for the responsible nations to acknowledge their
guilt
and pay restitution to the victims. Some nations; such as Germany,
have done so. Others, such as East Germany and the Ukraine have not.
I think that this is so, because until recently, these nations
were not independent, nor did they have any money.
Be that as may be, we should not blame all people belonging to any
given nation
for what their ancestors did. It is not just, nor does it improve our
situation, or the world.
Serah, please read our archived correspondence on EHPES and you will see
what we think about the atrocities committed by the Romanians, both
before WW2
and during it.
Even though it is written in parts of the bible "an eye for an eye",
Jewish people
have not practiced this for thousands of years, nor is it accepted in
our beliefs,
that money can atone for wrongs done.
The Hebrew poet Chaiyim Bialik had something to say about this;
please read his poem
"B'Ihr Ha-Harega". This poem describes the horrible ways Jews were
killed in Kishinev
during the progroms of 1905 and the attitudes of some of the
survivors later.
Read the last 30 or so lines or just the seventh line before the end.
