In 1775 after the Turks ended the war with Russia
not very victoriously, they owed the Habsburg, who supported
  them . a favor.
The Sultan asked :" What can we do for you?"
" We have communication problems with our
Transylvania citadels the 7 Burgen .The Hungarians, our partners,
control all the roads from the West. We want an alternative.
Let us have Galicia and Bukovina,
From Suceava westwards there is an easy crossing
by the Borgo pass to Bistritz."
" Bistritz - Shmistritz - take it " said the Sultan.

And until now the road leading South from Czernowitz
is called the Siebenburgerstrasse- not Moldova Road.
Because at Suceava it turns West to Transylvania -
      to the seven citadels.
