Good question Hardy.
I've met many of these people here, in Australia. Mostly Ukranians, some
Germans and a few Latvians. And I don't envy their fate.
Not happy people, not happy stories. They are not guilty in anything but
they feel guilty. Somehow they know, although their parents and grandparents
haven't told them anything about what happened in the old country, their
past lives shrouded in mystery, their secrets taken to their graves.
The more I deal with the descendants, the more I get convinced that some
justice was done. Every crime is subject to punishment and not necessarily
by the official justice system.
As it was said : "Yesh din ve yesh dayan" meaning: " There is a law and
there is a judge".
