I remember the Czernowitz winters, frost-flowers on the window panes,
rolled up heavy towels at the bottom of the window, between it and
the frame.
Deep snow, sledding down the steep Veteranengasse from the
Brauhausgasse,
watching a poor peasant girl leading a horse and cart, her feet
wrapped in rags,
no shoes, having a great snow fight in the schoolyard in the winter
of 1944 - 1945.
Eating Matzah Shmurah (called Shmireh) for the first time after many
years
on Pessach 1945.
Now, Pessach 2013 I look out on my snow covered garden and wish I was
in Israel.
Happy joyful Pessach to all of you,
Mimi
