Thanks to Bruce for informing us about he "Centropa" website.
Even though I have only had time to browse through it briefly,
I found it to be most informative about life in central Europe
during the years immediately preceding WW2, during WW2 and the years
immediately past the war. It does not deal with Czernowitz
or Bukowina exclusively, but this makes it all the more interesting
to anyone wanting to understand the atmosphere, culture and events of
this period which were not necessarily unique to Czernowitz and Bukowina.

Some of you will laugh at me and some will understand, when I say that
for many years I have been miffed at the popular concept of dividing Europe
into east and west and at the assumption that those countries which fell
under the dominance of the USSR, were part of Eastern Europe.

Now finally a recognition of the special status of CENTRAL EUROPE!

Thank you Bruce,

Mimi
