Dear All,

I too, have a whole collection of letters sent by my mother who remained
in Czernowitz during the war and other relatives from France, England
and the US to one of my uncles who lived in Palestine since 1923.
Some of the letters are in German, some in Yiddish.
This uncle; Jakob Steinmetz (Yaakov Sataty) fortunately kept all the
letters.

During the preparations for the 2007 Czernowitz (or Bukowina) Reunion, when
I asked for suggestions for the program, someone wrote that they would like
us to invite a speaker, who could explain on how get our memories and
stories, and those of our parents and grandparents published.

I thought then and still think so now, that it would be best to publish one
book, which would contain all our stories, letters and photographs in one
collection. This seems to me to be the best way to preserve our memories and
our heritage. Certainly, museums and archives might be best for preserving
various documents, but books can be widely disseminated and made easily
available to anyone interested.

Anyone agrees?

Mimi
