Czernowitz,

I'd like to add my two-cents to what Wolf said about the Czernowitz
microfilms at the Family History Library. I have looked at 6 already and have another
on order. As Wolf pointed out the films are a treasure trove of family
information. The ones that only give names and dates are the index films and are
very useful in finding a date and which film to look at for the complete record.
I found the complete marriage record for my great uncle by first using an
index film to find the exact date of the marriage. The films contain vital
records (births, deaths and marriages). The films also have some records from
Sadagora. They are for the most part to be found with records from Czernowitz
(only 2 of the 6 films that contain Sadagora records contain only Sadagora
records). When mixed with the Czernowitz records the Sadagora records are still
easy to find as they are on separate sections of the microfilm. Use the search
engine at the Family History Library website to find the film numbers and what
records they contain. You'll have to search both under Czernowitz and
Sadagora. The numbers of the 4 films containing both Czernowitz and Sadagora
records will be listed under both locations and have the same number. So ordering
one film will get you records from both places. I hope I haven't made this too
confusing. Feel free to contact me if you have specific questions as to what
film might have a specific record you are looking for. I have a printout of
all the films and what they contain.

Regards,
Bill Rosenzweig
