Dear Gabrielle,

The change of dates was imposed on us by practical circumstances: hotel
availability, Kashrut preparation for Passover - which made the original
date totally irrelevant, yom hasho'a and independence day and whatever else.
The change of the program has been agreed upon by the members of the
organizing committee.
We hope and still hope that many people will come from abroad.
The original purpose of the reunion in Israel has to enable older Israelis
who could not travel to participate in a reunion as well.
I am sorry that you feel "outsided" in a way by the Israelis attending the
Cz reunion. I cannot share this feeling, for I think I had good contacts
with foreigners and Israelis alike.
I am not a professional in organizing committees, I am an internal medicine
specialist who practices infectious diseases. I am sorry to have
disappointed you in this way. Organizing an event is complicated and
cumbersome and we are trying to do the best we can.
All I have in mind is having a reunion of Cz in that sort of the other.
Having such a reunion in itself is, in my opinion, a rare and a unique
opportunity. I do not know how many more reunions are to be expected.
I am very sorry to hear, personally, that you will not attend.
It is impossible, indeed impossible, to try and make everybody happy and
contented all of the time. Believe me, for I have tried. Mrs Mimi Taylor,
who I consider a friend, can attest to this.
Schoenes neues Jahr und Aufwiedersehen,
Danny

Dear Danny and organizing committee,
What a surprize, and not necessarily a pleasant one! It seems that
everything has been turned upside-down, without any previous information
or previous
consultation with the members of the Reunion who initiated this.
Suddenly the Reunion is not in charge of the organization as it seems.
The World Organization of
Bukowinian Jews took over and changed the previous time-table. My
husband had applied for vacation in his orchestra at the end of March to
attend the meeting
and we were on the brink of booking flights, and now it will not be
possible to come. We were really looking forward to this.
(Am I correct in assuming that while we were in Czernowitz, a parallel
group of the Bukowinian Jews from Israel was with us in the hotel and
that there was hardly
any communication betwen the groups, which was a little bit odd and
surprising, even considering different time-tables).
There seems to be a lack of consideration for the members of the Reunion
and other people from abroad, who were not asked whether they could
attend in April, and are faced now, at very short notice, to change
plans. It is easier for those living in Israel. Supposedly many people
will not attend any more, being disappointed by the "imposed" programme
and not very professional handling. Could this be the reason for Mimi
Taylor's resignation from the organizing committee?
Sorry, but this is the way I see it, and I am sure other members will
see it the same way.
Gabriele
