Dear friends on the Czernowitz/Sadagora Discussion Group:
Charles Rosner just posted a message to the group, and it's apparent
that he feels strongly about the recent change in date and/or other
aspects of the upcoming reunion in Israel. Personally, I regret that
Charles is furious, and I feel bad if the organizing committee takes
offense at his comments. I am Neutral in relation to the issues at
hand. This brings me to the role of the "owner of the list" as
Charles says that the list owner is the "only one entitled to say
whether he approves or not such development."
As list owner, it's my goal to facilitate discussion that is on topic
to the group's stated goal, to discuss all topics related to the
history and genealogy of the Jewish communities of Sadagora and
Czernowitz. But it's not my position to approve or disapprove of
details related to the 2007 reunion or other group activities. I can
express my opinion as can any member of the list, but the group
exists to facilitate discussion and to share information via both the
list and our web site, and if this leads to members deciding to
organize reunions, it's wonderful and it keeps within our goal of
furthering the study and discussion of Czernowitz+Sadagora history
and genealogy. However, it's entirely up to the initiative of those
interested in doing so to make it work. It's not up to the list
owner, nor the moderator-on-duty, to approve or disapprove of actions
taken by members of the list.
A committee was organized, and although one member resigned, it's up
to the rest of the committee to continue with the task at hand. As
moderator, I will try to keep the discussion to topics of substance,
and free of personal affronts from here forward.
Struggles lead to resolution, and may we learn from this struggle, go
forward, and have a very successful reunion in Israel.
Bruce Reisch
(list owner)
