Dear Gabriel,

I was born in Bessarabia, but spent the war years in Czernowitz; and consider Czernowitz my real home, even though I have lived in the Philadelphia area for almost sixty years. (I just found a picture of the apartment house we lived with a view our balcony and windows on the ("Gruss von Czernowitz site"). I have long been toying with the idea of going back. I have been putting it off, but I think time is running out. I would, therefore, appreciate it if you could share any information that you will be using both before, and after your trip.
  Thanks
  Frieda Weinschenker Tabak

  Greetings:

I am a new list member from New York City. My grandmother, Mariam Pfeffer
(also known as "Marie," born 1900), was from Probuzhna a town near Chortkov,
about 50 miles north of Czernowitz. My mother and I are planning to take a
trip there in lmid-April this year.
