I would like to update you on a summary of news from a local Czernowitz
newspaper Molodiy Bukowinetz :
1. On 12 of April vandals destroyed 70 gravestones at the Jewish Cemetery,
although since
March 2007, there are patrols guarding the perimeter of
the Jewish Cemetery.
2. The municipality allocated 20,000 Grivni (app. 3,960$) to illuminate the
Historical Culture
Monument on Zelena street (also includes the Jewish
Cemetery).
3. Very important information to all property owners:
As a part of celebration reparations, a plan was prepared
to renovate 464 buildings at the
historical part of the city (it still remains to be
seen how it will affect property owners).

5. National Bank of Ukraine announced that it will issue a 5 griveni coin to
commiserate years to founding of the city of Czernowitz on April 2008.
