"Valinky's" (Felt boots) were not typically worn
by the Ruthenians/Ukrainians in the Bukovina.
In 1944 The Russians who came to Czernowitz wore them.
Because of the war,leather was in short supply and that is why
felt-boots were worn. I remember people in Czernowitz
feeling sorry for the poor Russians whos feet were freezing
in these inadequate boots.
