Zwi Yawets was a prominent figure in many areas other than his worldwide status as a historian of Rome. Anyone who has met him or heard his lectures was captured by his personal charm. About Czernowitz, he wrote several articles and at the end - the book "My Czernowitz" which I recommend to all our readers of Hebrew. His death is a great loss, but that's the way of the world - we must accept the fact that we are transitory entities.
