Except for the grave of Pepi Almogen, I could find no mention of the
name Almogen
in any lists connected to Czernowitz. But by looking on Google for
Dr. Almogen,
I found that he is mentioned as one of the most famous people of Husi:
"In 1866 the Jewish physician Dr. David Almogen settled in Husi and
for some time
he was the only physician there. (Born in Galicia in the town
Tismenit in 1823) ..."
I agree with Christian that what looks like a cross on the gravestone
of Pepi Almogen,
upon closer examination of the photograph, looks like a cross was
attached there
and lately removed. It may be true that what looks like a cross, was
a bracket to hold,
the cross awarded to Pepi Almogen.
