Dear Edgar,
Sorry to bother you again. I found the list of the deportees. My family's
names weren't on the list but it says there that some of the carriages are
missing.
Thank you very much for posting the list.
Serah

Subject: [Cz-L] Cry of Desperation from Siberia via Shanghai to Czernowitz
in July 1941!
Czernowitzers...
Recently I published two posts at our ehpes.com Blog, headlined "The Elias
Weinstein Petition" and "Elias Weinstein • Eyewitness of the Holocaust".
First of all I would like to thank Peter Elbau and all of you, who
contributed to this subject by comments and/or mails. Today I released the
third and definitely most distressing post of this series at:
http://czernowitz.blogspot.de/2009/11/cry-of-desperation-from-siberia-to.html
http://ehpes.com/blog1/?p=5860
This publication became feasible by courtesy of our fellow member Peter
Elbau (Postcard to Shanghai) and Dragos Olaru, literary historian and
archivist at the Czernowitz Regional Archives (Transport list for 1,444
deportees from Adancata/Hlyboka to the Aktobe Province).
"Alleged deportation to Siberia", as the (British Mandate) Government of
Palestine insisted in 1945? No, not at all, as we are able to document by
the listing of 1,444 deportees, which were "consigned" in Adancata/Hlyboka
on 13.06.1941, out of which 1,442 arrived in the Aktobe Province in
Kazakhstan on 29.06.1941.
I've done my very best to make this listing available and searchable to all
of you, but as I don't speak Russian, I was dependent on online Russian
translators (for the remarks) and online Russian transliteration tools (for
the names). Please note, that the original Jewish names have been
Russianized by the Soviets, beside the fact, that you'll face numerous
misspellings; nevertheless I think, that it's worth to research this listing
(1,444 names on 99 pages) carefully!
In addition I stumbeled over the comparatively large number of Ukrainian and
Romanian names included in this listing, a fact which reminds us, that the
Soviet rule claimed an enormous number of victims, notwithstanding their
ethnicity. Once more, please don't hesitate to submit your comments/mails.
