Edgar, you are absolutely right to warn me about generalising. I also visit
all these countries and have visited Ukraine.
I live in Sydney, Australia and feel that if the it's strong democracy ever
falters, there will be always certain elements (see "Cronulla riots 2005")
that wouldn't mind to take possession of the jewish -owned (or other
minorities) houses. Strong law and order is the only weapon against the ever
present evil.
My grandmother had very good relationships with her Ukrainian neighbours and
servants. When she returned from Kazakhstan in 1948 it was a big shock for
her to find out what happened to her family in Hlyboka in 1941.
Thank you for sending the link, I'll let Dr Flohr's son know.

Serah...
Anti-Semitism is definitely not a Ukrainian phenomenon and - although I
understand and partially share your bitterness - I strongly believe, that
statements such as "The problem is that Ukrainians are anti-Semites and
murderers given an opportunity." are not appropriate.
I was born in Bucharest/Romania (in 1957), among the descendants of
Antonescu, Goga, Cuza & Co,
I emigrated (in 1969) to Germany, Hitler's, Gφring's, Eichmann's former
Third Reich,
I went back to Romania (in the mid-1990s), where Vadim Tudor's Greater
Romania Party played a certain role,
I moved to The Netherlands (at the end-1990s), where Dutch collaborators
betrayed Anne Frank,
I lived neighboring to Belgium, from where, assisted by Belgian
collaborators, my uncle has been deported to Auschwitz,
I don't mind at all living in Germany and the Netherlands and visiting
Ukraine, Romania, Belgium, etc,
I could easily carry forward the listing of countries, where you'll face
anti-Semitism.
No, Serah, the attribution of kin liabilty and collective guilt by -
ethnic - generalization will not encourage the younger generation, even not
for the Ukrainian, to elaborate its historical awareness.
Concerning Dr. Flohr, dear Serah, "Der Tag" is reporting at least four times
on him. Please go the the archives for "Der Tag" at
http://dertag.forenworld.com/index.php
and, entering "Flohr" into the search engine, you'll discover the following
mentions:
19.05.1933: Obituary for Fischel Flohr from Dorna Watra, Dr. Emanuel Flohr's
father.
02.06.1933: Dr. Flohr and Dr. Rat are assisting Lorenz Nagler, who committed
a suicide attempt.
10.06.1934: Dr. Emanuel Flohr's reputation (and wealth) are based on his
unique appendix operations.
09.08.1934: Due to inactivitiy, the referees, Sandmann, Galsberg, Dr. Flohr
and Slufarciuc were dismissed.
I do hope these data will be useful to you. Warmest wishes from cold, but
lovely Netherlands/Germany!
