My mother told me that their worst fear was to be guarded by German
soldiers. In fact, those members of her family who ended up with Germans
taking control did not survive.

That's what she told me. Anecdotal evidence, no facts.

Dear Serah,
You call this "Holocaust light"?
185,000 Bukovina Jews were deported to Transnistria, 145,000 returned.
Jassy pogrom of June 27, 1941, 13,266 Jews, were murdered according to
Romanian authorities.
There were 800,000 Jews in Romanian, after the war 400,000 survived.
According to an SS officer the Romanians in Transnistria were worse than the
German SS.

I could go on and on.

Dear Anny,

Thank you for your post.

That was the tragedy and the irony of the Holocaust that the main =
perpetrators of WWII were the most efficient nation in Europe.

And that is, thank G-d, the reason, why the Romanians were only capable =
of producing a "Holocaust light".=20

According to my mother, a Transnistria survivor, that's is the main =
reason we, former Bukowiners and their descendants, exist today, typing =
away nicely our posts to the Cz List!
