To
Dear ladies and gentlemen, dear friends of our museum!
As you probably know, in October 2012 the museum got an additional
room (45 m2) after a long process of negotiation with the city
administration. Hence, there are favorable conditions for the =
further
development of the museum.
In the nearest time we plan to start preparative works on creating
another exhibition hall. The first step on this way is the =
development
of a clear concept of a future exhibition. With this aim a working
meeting was held at the museum on the 17th of January. Local =
experts
(scientists, archivists, connoisseurs of art and architecture,
ethnographers etc) were invited to the meeting. During the =
discussion
4 main options of the arrangement of the new room were formed:
1. enlargement ("expansion" into the new room) of the existing
exhibition by means of preparation of additional thematic display
boards;
2. Creation of a completely new exhibition dedicated to the topic
"Holocaust in Bukovina" or "Jewish life in Bukovina after 1945";
3. creation of the second part of the existing exhibition =
dedicated to
culture (that involves movement of certain materials from the =
first
room and addition of new materials) and also fulfillment of =
released
space in the existing exhibition with new materials dedicated to =
the
following topics: "History", "Religion and traditions", "Everyday
life";
4. creation of a hall for temporary exhibitions and educational =
work
with visitors.
We would like you to consider the fact that in case of realizing =
the
option #2, we would partly or completely have to change the =
concept,
which has been put as a basis for creation of the museum from the =
very
beginning. This would be a very difficult process because of a =
wide
range of technical, organizational and financial reasons. However, =
we
would like the decision to be made after profound discussions.
This is why we address you with a request to express your thoughts =
on
this issue. We will be very grateful for your suggestions within =
the
options mentioned above, as well as for any new ideas that haven't
been named yet.
Best wishes,
Museum's team
