Hi Iris,
In my book, Ruth's Journey you can find a map and names of about 116 camps in
Transnistria. The exact number of victims is not known, but approximately
300,000 Jews perished in Tansnistria.
You will also find an account of massacres in many villages throughout Bukowina
and Bessarabia with unmarked mass graves.

I will gladly to The New York Times if I can get some facts and figures
on the approximate number of Transnistria and other Romanian camps and
ghettos, as well as casualties..
Do any List members have the approximate figures? I would be very
grateful for your help.

You are correct Iris... not a word about Romania, Bukovina, Ukraine,
Transnistria... In a way, not surprising as it was a very general
reportage and only a few places and camps were directly named.
Still, since the research was already done, the 'Times' could have at
least broken it out for each country in Europe.
The mission is yours Iris, if you care to write to the Times and voice
our collective displeasure.
Best,
jerome
