Yes, we the survivors deal with our genealogy, our history,
our way of life, our culture, our failures and our achievements.
It is important to us; both because we feel very deeply that it should
be remembered and also because we are curious and eager
for knowledge.

The descendants of those who murdered our relatives and who
tried to exterminate the Jewish people, as well as the nations
who were active or complicit in these murders have responded
variously to their guilt for - or participation in the holocaust.

Some do not acknowledge it, some deny their guilt, some have tried,
and still try to make amends.
Some research their nations behavior, or try to find every remnant
of the victims' creative output.

An article published by the "Jerusalem Center for Public affairs"
named "Representations of the Holocaust in Today’s Germany:
Between Justification and Empathy" is worth reading.
You can access it at:
http://jcpa.org/article/representations-of-the-holocaust-in-todays-germany-between-justification-and-empathy/

You can also read:
"The question of German Guilt" by Karl Jaspers.
And you can think about the ASF volunteers who have come for
three years to work in the Jewish cemetery of Czernowitz.

The perpetrators are long dead and their descendants cannot
be blamed for the sins of their fathers and grandfathers.
If as nations or religious groups, they do not acknowledge their guilt,
I find them disgusting, but I am not going to waste my time
and peace of mind thinking about them.
I would rather think about what is good beautiful.
