Hedwig, do you know anything more about the man named Todres? My maternal grandfather was Adolph Todres. He died at age 27 from pneumonia around 1910 when my mother was only two or three years old. He had a brother named Hermann, a big robust man who lived down near the Danube. I don't know of any others. He could have been a relative.

Hi Hardy,
Thanks for the park, this picture remind me on the green triangle small
park, , a green spot ( in the picture white)spot in the middle of the town,
on one side the tramway, on the other side the peasants, from the suburbs
Rosh, Kaliczanka,Manestariska, on the big market Austriaplatz,,And there in
the shadow of the old trees,on the benches, old women, invalids from the
WW!, young mothers with babies in carriages and a young religious man, with
peyot and tsitsit, with a big black hat, going from one end of the park to
another, reciting verses from Ilias and Odyssea, reciting poems from
Heinrich Heine, or Psalms, in a loud voice. than lowing his arms to heaven ,
cried oi "reboinesheloim "he could not understand the new orders, the new
world...This was the Franz-Josephs-Park 85/90 years ago...I heard that he
was arrested, put in the hospital for incurables, like "the red Bubi"too,
deported to Transnistria and murdered. His name was Todres. Yes not only the
beautiful parks changed, the inhabitants too...Nostalgic memories? Yes.
Hedwig
