Aw: Re: [Cz-L] The Lost Synagogues of Czernowitz

Dear Mimi,

I can not confirm the number of 60 synagogues; my knowledge is just fom books and I'm not sure if one author copied from the other or realy researched the topic. It is also not important for me. The "Chabad list" consists of about 30 locations of former synagogues. At some places nothing is left. But at some locations something is to be discovered. Places that are not the Great Temple or the Groisse Shil; small synagogues and prayer houses where people from the vicinity used to go. It strikes and moves me when I find this places. I stand there and try to imagine how life was once.

Thanks for researching Czernowitz, but you may have set yourself
an unattainable goal. I very much doubt that Czernowitz at anyone time
was home to 60 synagogues.
