Serah,no,it is not being turned into a church!!! It is being restored by
followers of the Rebbe Friedman and the Chasidic dynasty he founded.The work
started bit by bit several years ago..there are pics on the Ehpes site,and
to have the Ukrainian authorities handing ownership to the Jewish community
is only to be seen as a very admirable step in the right direction.
Cornel PS I still have 7 walnuts off a tree that I was told was planted
by the Friedmans...got them on my last visit!!

and the Google translation is far from perfect, but I still do not get the
final purpose of this restoration.

Are they going to turn it into a church?

I would like to share this link about what's happening nowdays in Warsaw. I
hope that the moderators won't reject this post. It's not directly about Cz
but it shows the trend: the Jews are gone but the evidences still remain. So

the nations have to deal with the consequences...
