Dear Czernowitzers,

I would like to remind all of you, of the proposed Czernowitz book.
This is to be a book consisting of memoirs, essays, letters, documents,
Photographs, essays and stories by former Czernowitzers and the descendants
of Czernowitzers.

Many of us have letters, photographs and documents pertaining to Czernowitz.
Some have accounts and memoirs written by their parents and other family
members. Those of us who once lived in Czernowitz, could take this
opportunity to tell of our lives there. Those who only know about Czernowitz
from what they were told by their families could write about the image of
Czernowitz, which was passed on to them. All and any of us could write about
our interest in Czernowitz and our thoughts and reflections on it.

The proposed book, would include copies of all documents, letters and
memoirs in the language in which they were written plus their English
translation. Accounts, memoirs and essays written specifically for this
book, could also be written in whatever language the writer feels most
comfortable writing and would be published as written accompanied by an
English translation.

Some of you have already indicated your interest in contributing to the
proposed book. A few weeks ago, I asked that everyone who MIGHT WANT to
contribute to the book, let me know by Dec. 1st. I would like to repeat this
request, also please ask your Czernowitzer friends and relatives, who do not
belong to the Cz.-List if they might want to contribute.

I cannot be sure that the book will be published, nor do I know definitely,
when, by whom and how. If there is enough interest, we can work on it.
For those who find it hard to commit themselves without knowing more
details:

In the meantime, you have nothing to lose. Let's see whether there is enough
interest and if there is, we will decide on all aspects of this project.
Anyone, who then decides he or she wants to withdraw from it, will still be
able to do so without having given anything away.

So, please send me your thoughts, questions, suggestions on this, by Dec. 1.

Mimi
