I recently learned that my grandfather came from Czernowitz. His
naturalization papers said he was from Romania and it took a little work to
find out he was from Czernowitz because he changed his name from Chajes
(sp??) to Charles. He immigrated to the US in 1898, when Czernowitz was in
the Hapsburg empire. My grandfather's name was David (Dovid??) Chajes b.
1880 and he had a brother Karl {Karol??) b.1886. I don't know when Karl
immigrated. Is there anyone who knows of these two people. David was
married to Ada who came from Russia. I do not know Ada's family name.
Thanks in advance to anyone who has info about this family.
