Hi Marcia:
Welcome to the group; thanks for joining us. I think you do have the
original name spelled correctly. In the Czernowitz Jewish cemetery
there are over 30 burials with that surname, and most spell it
exactly as you have it. There are also some burials under the name
Chaie and Chaies - probably the same family.
