Although I carry my father's name, was born later than the turn of the last
century, but it reminds me of the saying "madre cerat est"(mother is
certain) conclusion father wasn't always.
Some servants working with families later got married in their villages
with a child in their arms. This, it seems, is very much in fashion
nowadays as well.
As to Les' question whether they wanted to hide something reminds me of the
2 Jews meeting. Yankel just had a son and seeks Moische's advice whether he
should register his son a year later or earlier (the reason at that time
was how to avoid army service I was told) so, after debating for hours,
Moische says: how about giving the real date? Yankel answers: That never
occurred to me!!!
