I am most interested in this document and how it would relate to finding
out information about my grandfather who was deported in 1944 to Siberia. I
was able to obtain his arrest records from the SBU records in Czernowitz
when we were there in 2009. With help from Vadim Altscan from the NHM we
obtained and translated all arrest records but was never able to get an
answer about which prison he was sent to.
He miraculously smuggled 2 letters to my mother and grandmother in 1951
written from Petropovosk in Siberia to Bucharest and the letters ultimately
found their way to Mom and Grandma in Israel via a friend. We know he died
shortly thereafter but because we never knew which prison he was in do not
know where he is buried. Vadim was astounded that someone would have taken
the risk to smuggle these letters that were written in German because if
found it would have meant imminent arrest and possibly execution.
If anyone has any information or advise as to how to find this final piece
of information please let me know. It would be closure to my mother after
all these years. She just turned 89.
