Firstly, a big "thank you" to all who were involved in bringing this
document to our attention.

Hardy,

You are a very wise and a very knowledgeable man. That was is a very good
and precise political analysis of the situation as it was in 1945.
All I said was that I felt a great appreciation for Elias Weinstein's
attempt to save some innocent souls.
My other thought was to describe the terrible tragedy of my grandfather's
untimely death and the suffering of a helpless young woman and her 2
children. Speaking German and European-style education did not go well with
a savage environment my grandmother, my father and my auntie had live in for
8 years.

Hedwig,

According to my mother, Dr Ada Kraft (my other side of the family), who
lives in Givataim, Israel, her family was deported from Czernowitz to
Trasnistria in cattle carriages train in September-October 1941. She doesn't
like to talk about it, but I can ask her about the an exact date.

That means that Jews were deported before the ghetto was established.

Ilana,

Sometimes in the 60s my father, Oscar Kraft, was able to obtain all the
details about my grandfather's imprisonment, including a terrible prison
photo, the only photo of him we have as they were taken to Siberia (in
carriages) in 1941 almost empty-handed, leaving all their possessions
(including all photographs) behind. Unfortunately, I was too young to find
out how was this information obtained. All I remember, that his was
obsessively writing letters and meeting people. In addition, we still lived
there and he was a very influential and pro-active man. I can ask my cousin
who still lives in Chernivtsi but now Siberia is in a different country....
