Dear Hardy,
I'd like to share something with you and other Cz List members that
I've been wanting to say since I joined around 18 months ago, to learn more
about the city my beloved father, Charles Steinhauser, had to leave at age
12 because his father could not support his wife and three children on
his earnings as a tailor. Grandpa had to borrow passage money from his
wife's parents, the Sturms, so the family could sail to New York..
Since I joined, I have seen List e-mail change topics like how to make
good Kvass to concentration camps, cemeteries and restitution. There
were times when I felt uncomfortable reading Cz List e-mail - like I was
opening someone's private mail, even though it was addressed to everyone. Of
course, that has nothing to do with y'all, but the fact that I had never
lived in Czernowitz put me at a disadvantage, .Still, I was happy just to
be a List member. Some of the stories were amusing, some very enlightening;
but others, like the Transnistria tales, were heartwrenching. I have a
tremendous affection for the survivors, pain and sadness for those who did
not, and deep hatred for their murderers.
Since I don't speak or understand German, Russian or Yiddish, I feel f
frustrated when there's no English translation, but never enough to quit
the List - at least not as long as I can look forward to e-mail from Hardy
to brighten an otherwise drab day. In addition to being a walking
encyclopedia, he's a first-class quipster, and we can't spare any of those..
Hardy, please reconsider your decision. We can work it out.
Wih Love,
Iris

Dear friends ,
Because of reasons beyond my understanding some of
my mails are being monitored by the moderator.
They are wiped out and dont reach you.
The moderator says the language I use is offending.
Off topic and very offending.
I would let you decide on this but it is his list
and he can do whatever he finds right.
I therefore stop writing to the list .
I will write only to people who wish to get my mail.
Write me.
I will accept in any language used in Czernowitz and arounds.
Also pictures ,presentations ( no more links) anything.
On any topic you wish.
Hardy
