Galicia in the last part of the 19th century still was part of Austro-
Hungary,
therefore in this respect no different from Bukowina or Czernowitz.
But in the later part of the 19th century the economic situation in
Galicia
was far worse than in the Bukowina and there was massive emigration
from Galicia of all major ethnic/national groups. Poles, Ukrainians and
Jews left the the rural areas for other countries.
