Dear Mimi,

I guess it's the Ukrainian Станівці (Stanivtsi): http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=48.072778,26.065&spn=0.1,0.1&q=48.072778,26.065&hl=uk

Betreff: [Cz-L] Names of north Bukovina villages in Romanian and Ukrainian
I need more help. I mentioned before that one of the Jewish cemeteries
I thought of recommending for cleaning was the one in a village
formerly called Stanesti de Jos or Stanesti. I was there a few years
ago,
but now have no idea what the two villages are called in Ukrainian.

By googling Stanesti, I found a website in Romanian, which gave
a lot of information about the Romanians killed by the Soviets.

<http://www.amosnews.ro/arhiva/stanesti-nordul-bucovinei-comemorarea-romanilor-deportati-regimul-comunist-sovietic-08-05-2009>

To find out about the massacre of the Jews of this village in 1941.
you need to access:
<http://www.holocaustrevealed.org/_domain/holocaustrevealed.org/Romania/Matatias/Transnistria2.htm[http://www.holocaustrevealed.org/_domain/holocaustrevealed.org/Romania/Matatias/Transnistria2.htm] >

I think that it is particularly important to maintain the Jewish
cemeteries
in those villages where the Jews were massacred.

Please help me find the current Ukrainian name of Stanesti.

Mimi
