Dear Melita Fuhrman Vickter,
I have pictures from Czernowitz of my late mother, Pearl Spiegel Fichman,
with a Mrs. Fuhrmann taken during a visit to Campulung in 1937) as well as with
Mrs. Fuhrmann's son Nathan. Is Nathan Fuhrmann possibly a relation of yours?
My mother said the Fuhrmann's were neighbors when the Spiegel family lived
at #3 Mehlplatz (also Rudolfsplatz and Piata Dacia).
Sincerely,
Eytan Fichman

Dear Yossi & Fred,
Further to your discussion on the fate of Jews returning to
Czernowitz after the war: My mother & grandmother walked from
Moghilev-Podolsky to Czernowitz after the liberation (my father was
drafted into the Red Army). When they arrived at the Prut, they were
denied entrance into Czernowitz. They got across the "Little Prut"
by paying someone to take them across at night. I had heard this
story many times for 50+ years before my mother's death.

Regards,
Melita Fuhrman Vickter
