Hardy is right, If once mostly Jewish Shtetls in Galizia have any
meaning
for Jewish people, it is to remember that Jews were invited to move
to Poland by the kings and nobles of the country in the 16th and 17th
century.
That the kings and nobles treated their Ukrainian peasants in Galizia
in an abominable manner, that this resulted in the Chmielnitzki revolt
in 1648, during which thousands of Jews were murdered and that
during WW2 most Galizian Jews were exterminated with the help
of their non-Jewish neighbors. In Israel in the museum Beit Ha-tfuzot
there is a reconstructed old Jewish synagogue from Poland,
in my opinion, that is where old Jewish synagogues, or their remains
belong.
You cannot participate in the murder of people and then keep
their cultural heritage so you can make money from tourism.
